This is ProjectM, an opensource alternative to Milkdrop running on the XBMC front-end.
The hardware is powered by an Athlon 4400 Windows XP HTPC based system with a cheap ATI radeon 4350 HD HDMI graphics card.
I set the visualisation playlists to change every 5 seconds which highlights the different results each ProjectM preset can achieve. I usually have it set to a random preset that changes every minute.
This video was captured at 25fps from the default 60fps xbmc was set to and I have no idea why Youtube squashed the 16x9 ratio - better luck next time.
Unfortunately the projectM 2.0 implementation is not available with XBMC for the time being.
