I have been thinking about this for a while, do we need a remake of the 80's Science fiction TV show V?
Hell yes, the more scifi the better. If you are like me and dislike the constant barrage of Cop and Medical drama's force fed down your throat on free to air TV, a science fiction remake of a 80's Science fiction cult classic sounds like a breath of fresh air.
ABC.com claims this new TV show is a "daring re-imagining of the ‘80s sci-fi classic" and I really hope they get the concept right. It looks promising thus far with E! Online rating the pilot episode "on a scale of 1 to 10, an impressive 11. "V is the best pilot we've seen in, well, forever."
V Premiers in the US on November 3, 2009
At all corners of the Earth humans awaken to the sight of spaceships hovering over every major world city. As ominous as this sounds, we have to admit, it sure beats coffee as the go-to morning pick-me-up.
Jokes aside, the ships’ occupants, known only as “The Visitors,” spread their message quickly and clearly: They have come in peace, bearing gifts of medical miracles and technological breakthroughs far beyond earthlings’ wildest imaginations.
Many of the world’s citizens have been enamored by the aliens and their generous offers, believing every word The Visitors utter. But while on assignment, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans discovers their intentions are anything but altruistic: The Visitors’ claims of peace, generosity and doing no harm are… (pregnant pause)… LIES! They choose to attack by means of guile instead of warfare, infiltrating our governments and businesses in an attempt to subjugate and dominate mankind. Yet even with that knowledge, how can Erica convince others of the truth when The Visitors wield two subtle but formidable weapons from their vast arsenal? Official Plot
The original series was presented in such a way that the main story became a Nazi allegory, right down to the Swastika like emblem used by the Visitors and their SS-like uniforms. If you want to re-watch all the retro glory that was V the Miniseries and V the TV show, checkout Ebay or a decent Aussie online shop like Fishpond.
