Unlike previous Stargate episodes, SG:U looks to to draw heavily from the extremely successful Battlestar Galatica in terms of style, gritty visuals and mood. The trailer is very reminiscent of BSG and is devoid of the camp factor previous Stargate's are infamous for.
Not a bad thing at all, hopefully it fills the void left by BSG. Stargate Universe premiers in the USA on the 2nd of October. Australia may get it on the 9th via SciFi but don't hold your breath.
SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship's Stargate to survive.
